Please WaitBGC Artistic Gymnastics OverviewWomen's Artistic Gymnastics is the most popular and well known of the seven gymnastics disciplines and one of the most popular sports at the Olympic Games. Comprised of four events: Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor, gymnasts compete on all four events to accumulate an All Around score.
Both athletic and artistic, artistic gymnastics done well looks effortless. In reality it is a challenging sport, requiring strength, flexibility, power, agility and courage. Competitive gymnasts must be dedicated and determined to succeed and, at the highest levels, long hours of training are required.
Burlington Gymnastics has Developmental and Pre Competitive Programs leading to participation in all levels of the Ontario Competitive Program (OCP Levels 2-9), as well as National Stream Programs.
Burlington Women's Artistic Competitive Program has a long history of excellence comprising many Provincial and National Champions. We are proud of the athletes we place year after year on Ontario Teams to Ontario Tour, Eastern Canadian and Canadian Championships. Our National Program has produced gymnasts earning full athletic scholarships at American Universities and going on to compete in the NCAA. We strive for excellence in all levels we compete in.
Each Spring recreational gymnasts are invited to test for positions in the Artistic Competitive Program. Children who show a high
aptitude for the sport are invited to join various programs within the Artistic Competitive Program. Training hours range from 6-25 hours per week depending on age, level and program. A high level of commitment is required of the gymnast and of their family who assist with fund raising and club events.
